Fatty Liver Treatment Tips

Monday, November 15th, 2010

First, it is important to understand that losing weight is the most critical factor in reversing fatty liver. This does not mean you have to starve yourself or go on a crash diet.

Medical studies report that people who lose just 5 percent of their body weight have lower rates of fat accumulation in the liver. Those who lose only 9 percent have shown a complete reversal of their liver disease.

That means, for example, a person who weighs 180 pounds has to lose only 9 lbs. to lower the fat accumulation. A person who loses just 16 lbs. can completely reverse fatty liver!

Second, lowering your blood sugar is essential. People with fatty liver commonly have high blood sugar or diabetes. A diet high in sugar and refined carbohydrates (which convert to sugar in your body) and all the fast food and fatty foods, most people eat, only adds to the problem by increasing your blood sugar.

Finally, cleansing toxins is the key to healing your liver. Most people do not drink enough water or get enough exercise to keep their liver healthy. Lack of water and exercise in linked to poor circulation and a build-up of fat, sugar and toxins in your liver.

Tips to Treat Fatty Liver

Eat more healthy foods. Add fresh vegetables, yogurt, berries, and fiber rich foods to your diet. Choose healthier foods from the fast food menu. Start eating a large green salad or extra serving of dark green vegetables with your dinner. Spinach, broccoli and red leaf lettuce are excellent choices.
Cut down on sugar and refined carbohydrates. Add less or no sugar to your coffee and cereal. Replace white bread and pasta with whole grain breads, cereals and crackers. Use brown rice instead of white. Make more of your meals based on fresh soups, salads and natural whole grain foods.
Stay away from meats that are harsh on your liver. This includes beef, bacon, ham and pork. Instead, eat lean proteins such as chicken, turkey and fish.
If you drink alcohol, limit your intake to one or two beers or glasses of wine a week. Better yet, stop drinking altogether.
Drink plenty of water to hydrate and cleanse your liver cells. Cut down or eliminate soft drinks. Drink unsweetened juices. Replace coffee, tea and soda with water and a splash of lemon.
Flush excess fat, sugar and toxins from your system. Do a weekly liver cleanse. Drink a cup of warm lemon tea every morning. This makes an excellent daily liver cleanse.
Walk for 20 minutes three to five times a week to improve your circulation. Improved circulation will help flush fatty buildup from your liver. As an added benefit, you will begin to lose weight.

You can heal your liver by eating healthy foods, drinking plenty of water and getting more exercise. These simple diet and lifestyle changes will help you reverse fatty liver.

Do you have a health pregnancy?

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

Timelines

A pregnancy is divided into three phases, or trimesters. The first trimester is from conception to the end of week 13. The second trimester is from week 14 to the end of week 26. The third trimester is from week 27 to the end of the pregnancy.

The doctor will examine you and perform a pelvic exam. He or she may also perform blood tests, a urine test, and tests for sexually transmitted disease, including a test for HIV, which is on the rise in teens. (Some STDs can cause serious medical problems in newborns, so it’s important to get treatment to protect the baby.)

The doctor will explain the types of physical and emotional changes you can expect during pregnancy. He or she will also teach you to how to recognize the signs of possible problems during pregnancy (called complications). This is especially important because teens are more at risk for certain complications, such as anemia, high blood pressure, and delivering a baby earlier than usual (called premature delivery).

Your doctor will want you to start taking prenatal vitamins that contain folic acid, calcium, and iron as soon as possible. The doctor may prescribe the vitamins or recommend a brand that you can buy over the counter. These vitamins and minerals help ensure the baby’s and mother’s health as well as prevent some types of birth defects.

Ideally, you should see your doctor once each month for the first 28 weeks of your pregnancy, then every 2 weeks until 36 weeks, then once a week until you deliver the baby. If you have a medical condition such as diabetes that needs careful monitoring during your pregnancy, your doctor will probably want to see you more often.

During visits, your doctor will check your weight, blood pressure, and urine, and will measure your abdomen to keep track of the baby’s growth. Once the baby’s heartbeat can be heard with a special device, the doctor will listen for it at each visit. Your doctor will probably also send you for some other tests during the pregnancy, such as an ultrasound, to make sure that everything is OK with your baby.

One part of prenatal care is attending classes where expectant mothers can learn about having a healthy pregnancy and delivery and the basics of caring for a new baby. These classes may be offered at hospitals, medical centers, schools, and colleges in your area.

It can be difficult for adults to talk to their doctors about their bodies and even more difficult for teens to do so. Your doctor is there to help you stay healthy during pregnancy and have a healthy baby — and there’s probably not much he or she hasn’t heard from expectant mothers! So don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Be upfront when your doctor asks questions, even if they seem embarrassing. A lot of the issues the doctor brings up could affect your baby’s health. Think of your doctor both as a resource and a friend who you can confide in about what’s happening to you.

Changes to Expect in Your Body

Pregnancy causes lots of physical changes in the body. Here are some common ones:

Breast Growth

An increase in breast size is one of the first signs of pregnancy, and the breasts may continue to grow throughout the pregnancy. You may go up several bra sizes during the course of your pregnancy.

Skin Changes

Don’t be surprised if people tell you your skin is “glowing” when you are pregnant — pregnancy causes an increase in blood volume, which can make your cheeks a little pinker than usual. And hormonal changes increase oil gland secretion, which can give your skin a shinier appearance. Acne is also common during pregnancy for the same reason.

Other skin changes caused by pregnancy hormones may include brownish or yellowish patches on the face called chloasma and a dark line on the midline of the lower abdomen, known as thelinea nigra.

Also, moles or freckles that you had prior to pregnancy may become bigger and darker. Even the areola, the area around the nipples, becomes darker. Stretch marks are thin pink or purplish lines that can appear on your abdomen, breasts, or thighs.

Except for the darkening of the areola, which can last, these skin changes will usually disappear after you give birth.

Mood Swings

It’s very common to have mood swings during pregnancy. Some girls may also experience depression during pregnancy or after delivery. If you have symptoms of depression such as sadness, changes in sleep patterns, thoughts of hurting yourself, or bad feelings about yourself or your life, tell your doctor so he or she can help you to get treatment.

Pregnancy Discomforts

Pregnancy can cause some uncomfortable side effects. These include:

nausea and vomiting (especially early in the pregnancy)
leg swelling
varicose veins in the legs and the area around the vaginal opening
hemorrhoids
heartburn and constipation
backache
fatigue
sleep loss

If you have one or more of these side effects, keep in mind that you’re not alone! Ask your doctor for advice on how to deal with these common problems.

If you are pregnant and have bleeding or pain, call the doctor immediately, even if you are not planning to continue the pregnancy.

Things to Avoid in pregnancy

Smoking, drinking alcohol, and taking drugs when you are pregnant put you and your baby at risk for a number of serious problems.

Alcohol

Doctors now believe that it’s not safe to drink any amount of alcohol when you are pregnant. Drinking can harm a developing fetus, putting a baby at risk for birth defects and mental problems.

Smoking

The risks of smoking during pregnancy include stillbirths (when a baby dies while inside the mother), low birth weight (which increases a baby’s risk for health problems), prematurity (when babies are born earlier than 37 weeks), and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). SIDS is the sudden, unexplained death of an infant who is younger than 1 year old.

Drugs

Using illegal drugs such as cocaine or marijuana during pregnancy can cause miscarriage, prematurity, and other medical problems. Babies can also be born addicted to certain drugs.

Ask your doctor for help if you are having trouble quitting smoking, drinking, or drugs. Check with your doctor before taking any medication while you are pregnant, including over-the-counter medications, herbal remedies and supplements, and vitamins.

Unsafe Sex

Talk to your doctor about sex during pregnancy. If your doctor says it’s OK to have sex while you’re pregnant, you must use a condom to help prevent getting an STD. Some STDs can cause blindness, pneumonia, or meningitis in newborns, so it’s important to protect yourself and your baby.

Taking Care of Yourself During Pregnancy
Eating

Many girls worry about how their bodies look and are afraid to gain weight during pregnancy. But now that you are eating for two, this is not a good time to cut calories or go on a diet. Both you and your baby need certain nutrients so the baby can grow properly. Eating a variety of healthy foods, drinking plenty of water, and cutting back on high-fat junk foods will help you and your developing baby to be healthy.

Doctors generally recommend adding about 300 calories a day to your diet to provide adequate nourishment for the developing fetus. You should gain about 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy, most of this during the last 6 months — although how much a girl should gain depends on how much she weighed before the pregnancy. Your doctor will advise you based on your individual situation.

Eating additional fiber — 25 to 30 grams a day — and drinking plenty of water can help to prevent common problems such as constipation. Good sources of fiber are fresh fruits and vegetables and breads, cereals, or muffins that have lots of whole grain in them.

You’ll need to avoid eating or drinking certain things during pregnancy, such as:

certain types of fish, such as swordfish, canned tuna, and other fish that may be high in mercury (your doctor can help you decide which fish you can eat)
foods that contain raw eggs, such as mousse or Caesar salad
raw or undercooked meat and fish
processed meats, such as hot dogs and deli meats
soft, unpasteurized cheeses, such as feta, brie, blue, and goat cheese
unpasteurized milk, juice, or cider

It’s also a good idea to limit artificial sweeteners, and drinks that contain caffeine and artificial sweeteners.

Exercise

Exercising during pregnancy is good for you as long as you are having an uncomplicated pregnancy and choose appropriate activities. Doctors generally recommend low-impact activities such as walking, swimming, and yoga. Contact sports and high-impact aerobic activities that pose a greater risk of injury should generally be avoided. Also, working at a job that involves heavy lifting is not recommended for women during pregnancy. Talk to your doctor if you have questions about whether particular types of exercise are safe for you and your baby.

Sleep

It’s important to get plenty of rest while you are pregnant. Early in your pregnancy, try to get into the habit of sleeping on your side. Lying on your side with your knees bent is likely to be the most comfortable position as your pregnancy progresses. Also, it makes your heart’s job easier because it keeps the baby’s weight from applying pressure to the large vein that carries blood back to the heart from your feet and legs.

Some doctors recommend that girls who are pregnant sleep on the left side. Because of where some of your major blood vessels are, lying on your left side helps keep the uterus from pressing on them. Ask what your doctor recommends — in most cases, lying on either side should do the trick and help take some pressure off your back.

Throughout your pregnancy, but especially toward the end, you may wake up often

Phentemine375 and being attractive to other people

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

I was reading recently on a forum post recently, the theme of the posts were basically, why overweight people don’t seem to feel attractive and many have self esteem issues or depression problems.  I am not advocating the fact that just because a person has a few extra pounds he or she is less attractive. I believe that each person has value of one kind or another and attitude is everything, meaning you need to have a positive attitude. Our goal at www.phen375.com is not to promote unhealthy ideas; we want people to realize that if you will follow our recommendations, you can obtain your optimum weight for your size and body type.

www.phen375.com wants you to be healthy, live a long and productive life. How can we do that you are probably thinking? By reducing your weight, eating healthy foods, drinking lots of purified water and educating yourself. If you use our phen375 diet plan and fat burning energy increasing metabolism boosting diet pills, you are on your way to getting a perfect body for your body type. I did not say you are going to convert into a supper model or muscle man.  You are you, you’re special. There is no other person just like you; your worth internally (those thoughts you have) will increase your attractiveness through your self confidence as you reach your goals of weight loss and healthy living.

You know that internal voice that speaks inside your head, telling you all sorts of stuff, all day long helping your make decisions. Really that’s your subconscious working in the back ground helping you to make decisions based on your experiences. Let’s give your subconscious some new experiences and start telling ourselves, we are attractive and look in that mirror every morning and tell ourselves WOW  (I really look great) . I remember a famous motivator called Zig Ziglar and reading many years ago one of his motivational books. It goes something like this (when you wake up in the morning you should sit at the end of your bed and clap your hands together and basically scream it’s a great day11 time’s minimum). I remember that, because I actually did it and it worked great. I started off my day in a great mood and everything just seemed to go right for me. I also remember my wife telling me I was a fruit; I did it anyway because it made me feel good. Now the reason I mention this is because, phen375.com is trying to get you to do the same thing. We want to change some bad eating habits, increase your motivation, metabolism and become healthier. Some will call us fruits just like my wife, but facts don’t lie. If you follow the phen375.com way of doing things you are going to lose weight!

In case you are wondering my wife still thinks I’m not normal, but she loves me anyway and I’m probably still married to her because of my positive attitude. The key is simple in truth. If you promote your mind, body and diet, you will feel so much better and everyone who sees you will notice. Other people will become attracted to you simply because you are attractive now, interesting and confident. You did accomplish better health, lowered your waist line and more than likely are now having more sex than before. Your sex appeal and drive increase with your waist line. It’s not so weird actually if you think about it in the animal kingdom, which we are part of the strongest, healthiest most confident male are normally what the females are attracted too. Also the males are attracted to females in similar fashion.  The reason is simple genetics. The female will be attracted to the male or the male to the female that is most fitting to their genetic make up. We have a genetic attraction and it’s much stronger than you might think. You want to be strong, healthy and confident for your partner.  Other people will take notice, you will too that’s what genetic attraction is , now if you add physical attraction to the mix it becomes evident why we desire some body types over others . By having more pep in your step, other people will take notice of your body and accomplishments including your winning personality.

Losing weight the phen375 way is the best way to lose weight.  We want you to receive the long term benefits, keep that optimum body and health you so richly deserve.  I don’t want to get into all the different body types and structure in this article. But I can assure you that by obtaining your optimum weight for your body structure will defiantly make you’re more attractive inside and out. Let’s look at just a couple of the issues from an internal or inside your body point of view.

Cholesterol that is your LDL, HDL, triglycerides, cholesterols a waxy, fatlike substance, you know that stuff that blocks our veins giving us high blood pressure, heart attacks, generally killing us from the inside out. If you have your cholesterol ratio off and are considered as high risk, heart attracts material then it’s literally a life and death situation for you. You know that your weight, physical activity and eating habits are of life and death importance.

It’s so important to start now, not later, not next week but now, so you don’t have to pay later. I did a whole article recently; on you are what you eat. I’m not going to go off on a tangent here in this article about that.  Read our articles visit our site, any article with www.phen375.com or phentemine375™ probably had its roots from us here and company head courter. We publish many and all are trying to get our clients, customers, anyone else who will listen to our recommendations to educate themselves.

Start now before it’s too late, time is not on our side, we are not wine, and we don’t get better with time. We are an accumulation of our experiences internally and externally. What we eat, drink, breath and think all makes a difference. Phen375.com is a great source of knowledge undoubtedly the best diet pill on the market. Phentemine375™ goal is really simple; promote health by using our diet pill, following a metabolism increasing diet plan, eating healthy foods, cleansing your body using purified water. Diabetes or hyperglycemia typically affects people who are over weight! Why? carbohydrates, fast foods saturated fats, processed sugars. Our bodies were not designed or created to process quickly enough all that toxic processed food we eat and drink. Your metabolism was not made to handle it. Your body will slow down; your metabolic rate will decrease simply in an attempt to keep you living longer. Note I did not say it would keep you living healthier, be aware you need to make the changes now to enjoy your health, not only now but well into your future.

Your metabolism will compensate for your food intake good or bad food choices are made daily by you. Likewise, if you feed yourself correctly it will increase your metabolic rate and burn more calories with much greater ease. By eating processed food, fast food and artificial drinks generally causes your blood sugar levels to rise; simply put your body cannot handle all that processed sugar and fat in processed foods. If you are following the phen375.com diet plan, eating healthy  balanced foods meaning, none processed and drinking purified water you can drastically reduce your weight and by adding our phentemine375™ diet pills , it’s like giving yourself that extra push you need . You really want to avoid all those injection of insulin, blood sugar testing, pricking of the fingers to get your glucose levels OUCH! It’s expensive, painful and just not attractive to others. We don’t want to make anyone feel unattractive, but I will bet you all the rice in china that a diabetic will tell you this simple truth. If I had known this was going to happen, wow I would have made some major changes in my lifestyle; I probably could have avoided having diabetes all together.

Most of us fall into ruts and we get sucked into believing we have no control. You do have control, it’s time to take control of your life and health, let us help. It’s up to you to start now, take that 1st step. Start by educating yourself on our site www.phen375.com, if all you take away from us is knowledge, at least maybe you will make better life choices. How to Make your Kid Eat Healthy Food?

Monday, November 1st, 2010

Plenty of colourful veggies added to your spring roll can make it yummy and healthy too. If kids hate to eat vegetables, you can try out these variations in their spring roll or veg roll. Similarly, quick snacks can be made out of bread with a layer of cheese and stuffing of vegetables grated finely and added with a different flavoured sauce can appeal their taste buds too.

Sprouted grams and other cereals which may otherwise be boring can be made yummy with a variation of sauce and pepper. Mayonnaise is often liked by them, you can try out mixing sprouted grams with these mayonnaise. Take a slice of bread and smear chutney made out of tomatoes or coriander leaves. Mix this chutney with butter and spread it across the bread slice. Arrange the vegetable slices of their choice and grate cheese on it. Eat it plain or grill them as you like.

It is such a simple secret, why do kids like restaurant sandwiches than the ones made at home. Simple, they prepare it with a lot of variations and add much more flavour to it than the ones made at home. Different varieties of sauce, and spreads will create a whole lot of difference. It could be chat masala powder that tingles their taste buds and they would want to have more if it.

Butter and cheese are rich in protein and calcium as they are made out of milk. These are good for children and specially those who are reluctant on drinking milk. Give one serving of cheese or butter and you have taken care of their protein and calcium deficit too. Taking them out once in a while will energise them, don’t you often see their mood elevated when they are taken out. Check for the chain of restaurants listed out in the online hotel directory. You are free to make bookings online or order them home. Let your kid try out what he likes out of the healthy lot.

Protect Your Eyes with Sunglasses and Healthy Foods

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Your eyes are very sensitive so you want to be sure that you take care of them the best way possible. And there are some basic things that people can do on that daily basis to insure that they always have healthy eyes. Going for that yearly eye exam is just so important. An eye doctor can see things that other doctors may not be able to see just by looking at and into your eyes. They can see so much more than just the diseases that have to do with the eyes.

There are foods that you can add to your diet to strengthen and keep your eyes in great health. Your mom may have said to eat your carrots because they are good for your eyes and they are. Anything high in Vitamin A and beta-carotene is great for your eyesight. But did you know that garlic is fabulous for keeping your eyes healthy. Garlic has sulfur which can help prevent cataracts. It also has quercetin which is also fabulous for good eye health. Other foods high in these are avocados, broccoli, onions, eggs, and asparagus. Beans is another great food that you may want to add to your diet because they have been known to reduce your chances of getting glaucoma.

You want to be sure that you are always well hydrated. Drinking water on a regular basis is a great way to stay hydrated. Drinking water helps to flush out the unwanted toxins in your body.

You also want to limit your time on the computer and watching the television. Your eyes can be very strained if you spend all day watching a computer screen. Your eyes need to rest so you also want to be sure that you get enough sleep at night time.

There are many things that you can do to protect your eyes and one of the most basic things it to protect them from the elements of nature. By just having sunglasses on during the day you will be protecting your eyes from the cold and dry wind as well as from the suns harmful rays.

The suns rays can contribute to the development of cataracts and macular degeneration. So be sure that you get sunglasses that have 100% UV protection and do not just wear them in the summer. You should be wearing them year round and especially in the car for the high water and snow glare. If you do not have a pair of sunglasses on hand then get a wide brimmed hat to shade your eyes.

So be sure to eat the right foods and get a good pair of sunglasses that are SPF so that they block the ultraviolet and other harmful rays.

Shocking truth about 2 healthy foods

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

There are two kinds of fattening foods that I’m going to discuss in this article that will probably shock you.  The majority of people falsely believe these two foods are “healthy” for our bodies and it might surprise you that they should be eliminated from your diet.

Hopefully by now everybody should know how dangerous trans fat and high fructose corn syrup are for you, so I will not get into this lecture… Instead, read on and see that a couple of foods could be packing on the fat in your body.

The first type of food that I’m talking about that people believe to be very healthy is wheat products…that includes the majority of breads, muffins, bagels, crackers, pasta, and so on. And you read correctly, I am including “whole wheat” in the category of fattening food.

First of all, it has been found that a large percentage of people have some level of intolerance to the gluten found in wheat and some other grains. People who have celiac disease are the most sensitive to it, but it is important to say that most of the population was never intended to eat large quantities of wheat. People need to realize that the human digestive system has never been adapted to large amounts of wheat in the diet.

People need to realize also that wheat was introduced in the human diet only in the last couple thousand years, and it was NEVER consumed in such large quantities in the human diet until the last 100 years. This is a very small time compared to the traditional diet that the human digestive system developed in the past several hundred thousand years eating a diet of meat, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and fruits.

Statistics and personal experiences have shown when people eliminate wheat from their diet for 2 to 3 weeks to see if they begin to feel better and mostly lose weight; it almost always makes a HUGE difference. Most of the time, people not only begin to lose weight much faster, but they also get rid of indigestion and headaches that haunted them for years.

The second food among the fattening food list that might shock many people since it is believed to be “healthy” is fruit juice.

Do not misunderstand me, I’m absolutely not against anti-carb advocates per se…In fact, I know that most fruits are VERY healthy for everybody. Nevertheless, it was not meant for us to separate the juice from the rest of the fruit and drink only the high calorie juice and get rid of the fiber and other very beneficial components found in the rest of the fruit.

When people drink the juice of fruits such as apple juice and orange juice which are by the way the worst culprits in the western diet, you do not get the appetite satisfying effect that you would get from the fiber in the fruit, and you are left craving  more carbs. One more thing, the fiber found in a whole fruit contributes in slowing the blood sugar response when eating whole fruit compared to fruit juice consumption.

The fact is that drinking too much fruit juice will make you fat. On the other hand, consuming whole fruits with all the fiber will help you keep a healthy balanced diet and high nutrient density as long as the rest of your diet is whole unprocessed foods as well.

1. Fat-Free Foods Will Sabotage Your Weight-Loss Efforts

The introduction of more than 5,000 low-fat and non-fat foods over the past decade has contributed to an epidemic of obesity in America. The trouble comes when people think they can eat unlimited amounts of reduced-fat cookies, frozen yogurt and cakes. While these foods contain less fat than their full-fat versions, they tend to have more sugar and can be even higher in calories. Choosing fresh produce and other fiber-rich foods allows a person to eat a large volume for relatively few calories because it promotes a feeling of fullness.

 2. Vegetable Oil

Polyunsaturated oils, which include vegetable oils like corn, soy, safflower and canola contain far more omega 6 than omega 3fat, and are thus the worst oils you can eat. Experts looking at the dietary ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids, which are the healthy fats found in fish oil and cod liver oil , suggest that in early human history the ratio was about 1:1. Currently most Americans eat a dietary ratio that falls between 20:1 and 50:1. The optimal ratio is most likely closer to the original ratio of 1:1. For most of us this means greatly reducing the omega-6 fatty acids we consume and increasing the amount of omega-3 fatty acids. Further, polyunsaturated oils are the worst oils to cook with because they tend to become easily oxidized or rancid when exposed to heat from cooking. This results in the formation of trans fat and damaging free radicals. Unfortunately, the truly healthy oil, coconut oil, is regarded as the ‘dangerous’ oil and vegetables oils are regarded as healthy, when it should be the other way around.

 3. Soy

In recent years soy has emerged as a ‘near perfect’ food, with supporters claiming it can provide an ideal source of protein, lower cholesterol, protect against cancer and heart disease, reduce menopause symptoms, and prevent osteoporosis, among other things. However, numerous studies have found that soy products may:

Increase the risk of breast cancer in women, brain damage in both men and women, and abnormalities in infants Contribute to thyroid disorders, especially in women Promote kidney stones Cause severe, potentially fatal food allergies

Perhaps the most disturbing of soy’s ill effects on health has to do with its phytoestrogens that can mimic the effects of the female hormone estrogen. These phytoestrogens have been found to have adverse effects on various human tissues, and drinking even two glasses of soy milk daily for one month has enough of the chemical to alter a woman’s menstrual cycle. Soy is particularly problematic for infants, and soy infant formulas should be avoided. It has been estimated that infants who are fed soy formula exclusively receive five birth control pills worth of estrogen every day.

 4. Orange Juice (and All Fruit Juice)

Fruit juice has about eight full teaspoons of sugar per eight-ounce glass. This sugar is typically a fruit sugar called fructose, which is every bit as dangerous as regular table sugar since it will also cause a major increase in insulin levels. Further, many commercial orange juices are contaminated with mold from damaged fruit that are processed. So if you drink commercial orange juice regularly you will be exposed to these mold toxins. This doesn’t mean that you should avoid fruit, just fruit juice. When the fruit is intact and whole, its fiber will somewhat moderate the release of fructose into the bloodstream as well as somewhat moderate insulin release. However, if you are overweight, have high blood pressure or high blood sugar, it would probably be wise to avoid most fruits until you have these problems under control.

 5. Diet Sodas

The prevalence of obesity has reached epidemic proportions and many Americans are making efforts to side-step extra calories. They are turning to diet soft drinks — Diet Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and Sprite — as their beverage of choice. But is this a wise health choice? Perhaps not, for according to a study by researchers at the University of Texas San Antonio, middle-aged adults who drink diet soft drinks may be drastically increasing their risks of gaining weight later on. By itself, diet soda cannot be blamed for weight gain; however, various contributing factors may play a role. For example, a person who drinks a diet soda may feel it’s acceptable to make up for those calories with another high-calorie food. And while the tongue is temporarily satisfied by the sweet taste of diet soda, the brain isn’t similarly fooled and still craves calories for energy. Other studies have suggested people who drink an artificially sweetened beverage before a meal will eat more high-calorie foods than those who do not. Therefore, with diet soft drinks and sugar-sweetened beverages (even fruit juices) linked to weight gain and obesity, many people are left wondering, “What is safe to drink?” The answer, of course, is water.
