<p>        I know that this may not be one of the most comfortable subjects for most people, but over on my blog where I cover the best deals for consumers on a wide range of products and services, learning how to cleanse your colon is definitely one of the most requested topics that people ask me to look into.
<p>Ever since Doctor Oz appeared on Oprah and extolled the many benefits of colon cleansers, even those of us who may never have considered doing one started wanting to know more about it. </p>
<p>This is a smart move &#8212; because even though, like I said, it may not be something that you want to talk about your next cocktail party, the amazing benefits, including almost immediate weight loss, lower cholesterol, and lower blood-pressure, make colon cleansing something that any health-conscious person should seriously consider. </p>
<p>But now this is the major problem with colon cleansing&#8230; </p>
<p>Basically, most people believe that while a cleansing itself can be extremely beneficial, the products that some people use to try and give them a little boost very widely in terms of their quality. I\&#8217;m going to tell you about the products I recommend in a second, but first let\&#8217;s talk about the general procedure involved. </p>
<p>How to cleanse your colon &#8212; choosing supplements? </p>
<p>Most people will cleanse their colon using one of two methods&#8230; </p>
<p>1 &#8212; You\&#8217;ll visit a practitioner who\&#8217;s going to hook you up to a machine that will literally flush that stuff out of your colon mechanically. Most of the time, you\&#8217;re going to be watching as all that&#8230;uhh&#8230;&#8221;junk,&#8221; is cleansed out of your insides and flows through a tube &#8212; which is clear, by the way &#8212; that gives you an up close and personal view at just what\&#8217;s been building up in there for the past 20 years or so. </p>
<p>No doubt this is definitely effective, but as is probably obvious, it\&#8217;s also time-consuming, requires that you visit the doctor\&#8217;s office, and it can also get pretty expensive. On the plus side, you do get to walk around for the rest of the day with that beautiful picture of all that &#8220;stuff&#8221; whizzing by in your head. </p>
<p>2 &#8212; You\&#8217;ll choose to do it at home for yourself. This is the typical method most people will choose. It\&#8217;s much less expensive and has the added benefit of allowing you to perform the procedure when you want to do it, rather than having to schedule it around someone else\&#8217;s schedule. </p>
<p>Assuming that you do this yourself at home, the most prevalent method is going to be to get a colon cleanser that will just give a little assistance to your body to help it expel all of that stuff that\&#8217;s just sitting there right now &#8212; basically, the colon cleanser will do the same job as the machine that we talked about above, but it will do it naturally and help your body do it for itself. </p>
<p>The way you\&#8217;d actually perform the colon cleansing is quite simple. It\&#8217;s simple. Just go with the supplement you feel comfortable with, follow the structures on the label, and then await the results. Them sure you don\&#8217;t want to hear too many details, but what essentially happens now is that the product starts loosening up all of that stuff and turning it into something that your body can easily expel. Most colon cleansing suppliers will say that you should plan on staying close to your bathroom for a short while the first time you take it just to make sure that you don\&#8217;t run into any accidents while the cleanser starts doing its job. </p>
<p>Of course, it should be pretty obvious that what you want to do is only choose a colon cleanser that has been proven to actually work. There are some colon cleansers that athletes and high powered executives use, but there are also others that are produced by disreputable companies that haven\&#8217;t really taken the time to formulate a good product. </p>
<p>So it\&#8217;s vital that you choose wisely, and we\&#8217;ll get to some of the tips to help you do just that in a second. But before we do that, let\&#8217;s just discuss for a second what this procedure exactly is, so you know what to expect. </p>
<p>Put simply, cleansing your colon just means giving it a little bit of help to get rid of the impacted matter that hasn\&#8217;t left your system naturally. In the Western world, with our diet heavily dependent on things like red meat, by the time we are in our 20s or 30s it\&#8217;s estimated that we have perhaps 5-10 pounds of this stuff just sitting in our gut. </p>
<p>Here\&#8217;s the way I look at it &#8212; have you ever happened to see some meat in the deli counter that\&#8217;s more than a decade past its expiration date? Now just think of all that in your colon. </p>
<p>Think that sounds disgusting? Trust me, it certainly is. These are all factors I learned about while doing some research on colon cleansers. We\&#8217;re not going to get into the gruesome details because I certainly don\&#8217;t want to start grossing people out, but let\&#8217;s simply say that when you start to see the results of flushing all of this junk out of your system, you\&#8217;ll definitely appreciate and understand why it\&#8217;s been a struggle to get a flat, sexy tummy. </p>
<p>It\&#8217;s a real awakening for a lot of people once they experience a colon cleanse and immediately find that they have a lot more energy, and have almost instantaneously lost some weight from their midsection. </p>
<p>After you\&#8217;ve tried it for yourself and have seen the results with your own eyes, I really think you\&#8217;re going to be surprised.</p>

<p>        The bariatric diet is what you will follow for the first 2-3 months following your gastric bypass surgery. It is something you will spend time learning about before your surgery and you should have the products in your home before you come home from the hospital. This diet has four stages that last approximately 2 months total, but then what?
<p>The first 2-3 months are going to be very structured and you will be following the gastric bypass diet that was ordered by your dietitian. But this is a very short time in the grand scheme of things. It is the next several years of your life that will determine your weight loss, whether you maintain it and if you are able to shed your obesity related health issues. </p>
<p>The first six months to a year you will lose weight without trying. The weight is going to come off just because you are not able to consume more than a quarter to a half a cup of food at any given time. You will spend a lot of this time learning about what your body will tolerate and what it will rebel against. This will be an exciting time as you see the pounds come off. You will be able to see your feet again and you will be able to do many things that you have not been able to do for years or maybe you have never done. </p>
<p>But the weight loss will eventually slow down and then stop. From this point forward, the maintenance will be on you. This is where you are going to have to put into practice everything you have learned about nutrition and fitness. You have been blessed with a healthy weight and a changed life, but it will not stay that way if you do not nurture it. If you think that because you have had this surgery that it is impossible for you to gain weight, guess again. There are forums filled with people who have gained weight after surgery and are trying to get rid of it. </p>
<p>Keep those bariatric protein shakes and tennis shoes handy. This is the best advice I can give someone that has lost weight. Exercise regularly and eat meals high in lean protein and low in fat. Eliminate sugar as much as possible. It has no nutritional value and can do a lot to sabotage your efforts at a healthy life. This does not mean you have to give up the things that you love, but you have to learn to set limits. Learning what it takes to be healthy and living by these principles eighty percent of the time will keep your healthy weight.</p>

<p>        According to Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of health and healing, the Kapha Dosha (humour) is primarily responsible for fat and adipose tissue in the body and therefore reducing Kapaha is the key to a successful weight loss program. <p>Of the four dimensions of our being, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, in this article I will cover the Physical Dimension which is most important for the reduction of Kapha and the correlating reduction in weight. </p>

<p>Obviously an anti-kapha diet is the place to start when looking to lose weight. This means eating lots of fruits, vegetables, spicy foods and whole grains. </p>

<p>The following Ayurvedic guidelines should be followed for proper exercise with regard to weight loss: </p>
<p>* More Exercise the Better: Kapha\&#8217;s qualities of fixed, dull, heavy, soft and cold are all negated via exercise. In other words, the more exercise you do the more you reduce Kapha and therefore fat in your body. </p>

<p>* Be Consistent: A Kapha body type has a propensity towards weight gain so you need to make exercise a daily part of you life. The hardest part will be to get the exercise program underway. Once this is done Kapha people tend to be very determined and steady, so they will be able to adhere to it long term. Getting started though is another matter for Kapha types and usually requires shock treatment. <p>No napping or going to bed early. If you want to reduce Kapha and weight remember you burn more calories when you are awake and being active, than when you are happily snuggled under the blanket. </p>

<p>        If you have lived the majority of your life overweight, you\&#8217;ve most likely tried countless weight loss programs, weight loss diets and a healthy dose of drugs and pills to boot. Anyone who has gone through these experiences know that the ultimate &#8220;diet killer&#8221; is your own lack of self-control and focus.
<p>When it comes to weight loss you may secretly be your own worst enemy. Before we get started on that, let\&#8217;s look at the fact that accomplishing any goal, large or small, requires a mind that is clearly focused on the desired end. </p>
<p>What does that mean? It means turning self-talk into a positive advantage and using your rational mind to help fuel and motivate your efforts. After all, the choice is yours: let your mind sabotage your efforts or let it help inspire better eating habits and encourage healthy weight-loss outcomes. </p>
<p>If you\&#8217;ve tried losing weight or a weight loss program before, and have found it to be an uphill battle in which you lose a few pounds only to gain back several more, then it\&#8217;s time to break the psychological cycle that may be holding you back from your goal. </p>
<p>THE PSYCHOLOGICAL CYCLE OF WEIGHT GAIN </p>
<p>In a world where thin is in, it\&#8217;s not unusual for people who are overweight to carry the burden of lower self-esteem. Add to that the social stigma or prejudice that overweight individuals encounter and a psychological cycle for weight gain can be set in motion or unhealthy eating disorders (bulimia, anorexia) can develop. People, overweight as well as thin, often eat in response to stress, depression, loneliness and anxiety. This stress-induced or emotional eating can lead to weight gain which in turn leads to lower self-esteem, depression, and anxiety which leads to more stress-based eating and additional weight gain. It\&#8217;s easy to see how one can become trapped in a dangerous downward spiral and vicious cycle. </p>
<p>Compounding the problem is the fact that individuals who are overweight have less energy, and therefore find it harder to be active, so the risk of gaining weight again increases. A cycle of inactivity and further weight gain can develop: the less active person gains weight and so becomes less active, thereby gaining more weight and so on. Also, life stresses, which are normally alleviated through exercise, start building up which triggers more stress-based eating. </p>
<p>Individuals who try to lose weight and fail may feel depressed, frustrated and even guilty or ashamed and may rely on comfort foods as a way to feel better. The same is true of those who succeed in losing weight, only to gain it back. Anxiety, depression and guilt can produce a feeling of hopelessness that hinders efforts to lose weight. </p>
<p>This is why getting on the right weight loss program is CRUCIAL for successful weight loss. Whether it\&#8217;s a weight loss diet that you\&#8217;ve imposed on yourself or a program designed for your body, follow the next seven steps to break the psychological cycle of weight loss. </p>
<p>SEVEN STEPS TO BREAKING THE CYCLE </p>
<p>1. Stop Diet Deprivation. Diets and weight loss programs that put severe restrictions on what you can eat oftentimes arouse binge eating. While you may hold out for a while, one day you\&#8217;ll decide depriving yourself is not worth it, or you can\&#8217;t take it anymore, and you dig into the refrigerator, freezer or snack cabinet with a vengeance. Allow yourself small indulgences that are satisfying and will help you avoid harmful binging. </p>
<p>2. Plan Ahead. What if you should slip? The best way to avoid slipping is through pre-planning. So, if you\&#8217;re off to a backyard barbeque or family gathering decide ahead of time what your plan is. Eat something healthy and filling before you go out and then allow yourself a few special treats at the party, but exercise portion control. If you know that Aunt Mary is making your favorite dessert, plan on having a small slice and savor it. Managing your weight and enjoying life should go hand in hand. </p>
<p>3. Set Realistic Weight Loss Goals. To avoid the frustration of failing, don\&#8217;t overstress yourself with unrealistic weight loss goals. You gained weight slowly over time and it will take some time to gradually lose that weight. Slow, but sure is the best approach. </p>
<p>4. Choose Healthy Outlets for Emotions. Instead of opening the refrigerator when you\&#8217;re upset, how about phoning a friend, or take a walk. Discover something that makes you feel calmer or happier &#8211; something other than food or alcohol. Do yoga, dance around your living room, meditate or go out bowling with a friend. </p>
<p>5. Stop Harboring Hurts. Work through issues that are upsetting you. Talk to a therapist or even a friend. Don\&#8217;t let hurts, even old wounds or patterns that reach back into your childhood, affect you and your relationship with food. </p>
<p>6. Remember Why You\&#8217;re Dieting. It helps to stop and remember why you\&#8217;re dieting in the first place. Is it to have more energy, look and feel better, alleviate health problems or increase your self esteem? Keeping the goal in mind is critical to your weight loss success. </p>
<p>7. Use Your Mind to Break the Cycle. The fact is you can do it. It\&#8217;s all in your mind &#8211; the power to lose the weight rests with you. Believe you can succeed and you will succeed. If you want to put an end to the psychological cycle of weight gain, start by turning all of your negative self talk into positive affirmations. That\&#8217;s the best way to break the cycle. </p>
<p>Instead of saying: &#8220;Look at that fat belly. It just won\&#8217;t go away.&#8221; Think positive: &#8220;Yes, my belly is fat now, but it won\&#8217;t always be. I plan to be fit, not fat. I\&#8217;m heading to the gym after work today.&#8221; </p>
<p>Keep your goal in mind at all times. Write down your positive affirmations and put up visual reminders of what you want to attain &#8211; that dress you want to buy, that seaside resort you\&#8217;re longing to visit this year, or even a picture the happy person you want to be again. It\&#8217;s all within reach if you set your mind to it, keep active, exercise, and prepare healthy menus that you enjoy. </p>
<p>Use these seven steps to create a mental turnaround and break through the psychological barriers that are holding you back. If you do, you\&#8217;ll have the power to achieve permanent weight loss &#8211; something that will truly change your future and your life.</p>
