<p>There are foods that you can add to your diet to strengthen and keep your eyes in great health. Your mom may have said to eat your carrots because they are good for your eyes and they are. Anything high in Vitamin A and beta-carotene is great for your eyesight. But did you know that garlic is fabulous for keeping your eyes healthy. Garlic has sulfur which can help prevent cataracts. It also has quercetin which is also fabulous for good eye health. Other foods high in these are avocados, broccoli, onions, eggs, and asparagus. Beans is another great food that you may want to add to your diet because they have been known to reduce your chances of getting glaucoma.</p>
<p>You want to be sure that you are always well hydrated. Drinking water on a regular basis is a great way to stay hydrated. Drinking water helps to flush out the unwanted toxins in your body.</p>
<p>You also want to limit your time on the computer and watching the television. Your eyes can be very strained if you spend all day watching a computer screen. Your eyes need to rest so you also want to be sure that you get enough sleep at night time.</p>
<p>There are many things that you can do to protect your eyes and one of the most basic things it to protect them from the elements of nature. By just having sunglasses on during the day you will be protecting your eyes from the cold and dry wind as well as from the suns harmful rays.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There are two kinds of fattening foods that I&#8217;m going to discuss in this article that will probably shock you.  The majority of people falsely believe these two foods are &#8220;healthy&#8221; for our bodies and it might surprise you that they should be eliminated from your diet.</p>
<p>Hopefully by now everybody should know how dangerous trans fat and high fructose corn syrup are for you, so I will not get into this lecture… Instead, read on and see that a couple of foods could be packing on the fat in your body.</p>
<p>The first type of food that I&#8217;m talking about that people believe to be very healthy is wheat products…that includes the majority of breads, muffins, bagels, crackers, pasta, and so on. And you read correctly, I am including &#8220;whole wheat&#8221; in the category of fattening food.</p>
<p>First of all, it has been found that a large percentage of people have some level of intolerance to the gluten found in wheat and some other grains. People who have celiac disease are the most sensitive to it, but it is important to say that most of the population was never intended to eat large quantities of wheat. People need to realize that the human digestive system has never been adapted to large amounts of wheat in the diet.</p>
<p>People need to realize also that wheat was introduced in the human diet only in the last couple thousand years, and it was NEVER consumed in such large quantities in the human diet until the last 100 years. This is a very small time compared to the traditional diet that the human digestive system developed in the past several hundred thousand years eating a diet of meat, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and fruits.</p>
<p>Statistics and personal experiences have shown when people eliminate wheat from their diet for 2 to 3 weeks to see if they begin to feel better and mostly lose weight; it almost always makes a HUGE difference. Most of the time, people not only begin to <a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);" href="http://www.losebellyfattoday.com">lose weight </a>much faster, but they also get rid of indigestion and headaches that haunted them for years. </p>
<p>The second food among the fattening food list that might shock many people since it is believed to be &#8220;healthy&#8221; is fruit juice.</p>
<p>Do not misunderstand me, I&#8217;m absolutely not against anti-carb advocates per se…In fact, I know that most fruits are VERY healthy for everybody. Nevertheless, it was not meant for us to separate the juice from the rest of the fruit and drink only the high calorie juice and get rid of the fiber and other very beneficial components found in the rest of the fruit.</p>
<p>When people drink the juice of fruits such as apple juice and orange juice which are by the way the worst culprits in the western diet, you do not get the appetite satisfying effect that you would get from the fiber in the fruit, and you are left craving  more carbs. One more thing, the fiber found in a whole fruit contributes in slowing the blood sugar response when eating whole fruit compared to fruit juice consumption.  </p>
<p> The fact is that drinking too much fruit juice will make you fat. On the other hand, consuming whole fruits with all the fiber will help you keep a healthy balanced diet and high nutrient density as long as the rest of your diet is whole unprocessed foods as well.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>1. Fat-Free Foods Will Sabotage Your Weight-Loss Efforts</p>
<p>The introduction of more than 5,000 low-fat and non-fat foods over the past decade has contributed to an epidemic of obesity in America. The trouble comes when people think they can eat unlimited amounts of reduced-fat cookies, frozen yogurt and cakes. While these foods contain less fat than their full-fat versions, they tend to have more sugar and can be even higher in calories. Choosing fresh produce and other fiber-rich foods allows a person to eat a large volume for relatively few calories because it promotes a feeling of fullness.</p>
<p> 2. Vegetable Oil</p>
<p>Polyunsaturated oils, which include vegetable oils like corn, soy, safflower and canola contain far more omega 6 than omega 3fat, and are thus the worst oils you can eat. Experts looking at the dietary ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids, which are the healthy fats found in fish oil and cod liver oil , suggest that in early human history the ratio was about 1:1. Currently most Americans eat a dietary ratio that falls between 20:1 and 50:1. The optimal ratio is most likely closer to the original ratio of 1:1. For most of us this means greatly reducing the omega-6 fatty acids we consume and increasing the amount of omega-3 fatty acids. Further, polyunsaturated oils are the worst oils to cook with because they tend to become easily oxidized or rancid when exposed to heat from cooking. This results in the formation of trans fat and damaging free radicals. Unfortunately, the truly healthy oil, coconut oil, is regarded as the ‘dangerous’ oil and vegetables oils are regarded as healthy, when it should be the other way around.</p>
<p> 3. Soy</p>
<p>In recent years soy has emerged as a ‘near perfect’ food, with supporters claiming it can provide an ideal source of protein, lower cholesterol, protect against cancer and heart disease, reduce menopause symptoms, and prevent osteoporosis, among other things. However, numerous studies have found that soy products may:</p>
<p> Increase the risk of breast cancer in women, brain damage in both men and women, and abnormalities in infants  Contribute to thyroid disorders, especially in women  Promote kidney stones  Cause severe, potentially fatal food allergies
<p> </p>
<p>Perhaps the most disturbing of soy’s ill effects on health has to do with its phytoestrogens that can mimic the effects of the female hormone estrogen. These phytoestrogens have been found to have adverse effects on various human tissues, and drinking even two glasses of soy milk daily for one month has enough of the chemical to alter a woman’s menstrual cycle. Soy is particularly problematic for infants, and soy infant formulas should be avoided. It has been estimated that infants who are fed soy formula exclusively receive five birth control pills worth of estrogen every day.</p>
<p> 4. Orange Juice (and All Fruit Juice)</p>
<p>Fruit juice has about eight full teaspoons of sugar per eight-ounce glass. This sugar is typically a fruit sugar called fructose, which is every bit as dangerous as regular table sugar since it will also cause a major increase in insulin levels. Further, many commercial orange juices are contaminated with mold from damaged fruit that are processed. So if you drink commercial orange juice regularly you will be exposed to these mold toxins.This doesn’t mean that you should avoid fruit, just fruit juice. When the fruit is intact and whole, its fiber will somewhat moderate the release of fructose into the bloodstream as well as somewhat moderate insulin release. However, if you are overweight, have high blood pressure or high blood sugar, it would probably be wise to avoid most fruits until you have these problems under control.</p>
<p> 5. Diet Sodas</p>
<p>The prevalence of obesity has reached epidemic proportions and many Americans are making efforts to side-step extra calories. They are turning to diet soft drinks &#8212; Diet Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper and Sprite &#8212; as their beverage of choice. But is this a wise health choice? Perhaps not, for according to a study by researchers at the University of Texas San Antonio, middle-aged adults who drink diet soft drinks may be drastically increasing their risks of gaining weight later on. By itself, diet soda cannot be blamed for weight gain; however, various contributing factors may play a role. For example, a person who drinks a diet soda may feel it&#8217;s acceptable to make up for those calories with another high-calorie food. And while the tongue is temporarily satisfied by the sweet taste of diet soda, the brain isn&#8217;t similarly fooled and still craves calories for energy. Other studies have suggested people who drink an artificially sweetened beverage before a meal will eat more high-calorie foods than those who do not. Therefore, with diet soft drinks and sugar-sweetened beverages (even fruit juices) linked to weight gain and obesity, many people are left wondering, &#8220;What is safe to drink?&#8221; The answer, of course, is water.</p>

<p>3 &#8211; Green leafy vegetables &#8211; Make it a habit to eat green leafy vegetables like lettuce or cabbage. The fiber will turns off your hungry signals. Imagine, eating with no calories, how wonderful.</p>
<p>4 &#8211; Eye for oatmeal &#8211; Remember, go for real oatmeal, not the instant one. Oatmeal is the best carbohydrate with high fiber content that could keep you full for a long time. A bowl of oatmeal for breakfast or snack is a good start to reduce hunger.</p>
<p>5 &#8211; Big bowl of soup &#8211; Always go for a bowl of soup if you do not feel like eating much. Soup has high water content with low calories which can easily fulfill your stomach. Of course, bear in mind, do not go for the creamy soups as it has more fats.</p>
<p>Appetite suppressant is good for those who really want to carry on with their diet program. You can continue to lose weight without feeling hungry as well as stopping the craving and snacking on finger food to curb the hunger.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <strong><a rel="nofollow" onclick="javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);" href="http://www.foodcapers.co.za">menu</a></strong> runs on a 15 working day cycle (3 weeks). The cycle runs continuously meaning that you do not receive the same menu items on the first of each month. As an existing client you do not have to redo your selection with every new month, meaning that your selection will be kept on record. You will however, be reminded to check for any changes to the menu, as new menu items are added from time to time. For this you would have to scroll through the menu. The menu items that have been changed will be highlighted and in red to make them easy to find. You would then select the desired item from the pop down and your new menu selection will be saved accordingly. You can also opt for a complete change to your menu selection but please note that the latest selection will be saved.<br />How to place your orderOnce you have completed the personal details section, the next screen will take you to the food menu screen. You will notice a total in the top right corner of the screen. This total represents a full months order (or for the portion of the month, relative to when you log on) and will adjust automatically as you select specific meals. You have the option to take all daily meals (from breakfast to dinner, from Monday to Friday) or to build a meal plan more suited to you schedule.<br />If for instance you do not want to receive any breakfasts, go to the breakfast tab and click on the tick box marked &#8220;I don&#8217;t want any breakfasts. You can also select the breakfasts that you do want to receive. Use the pop down menu on the relevant date to deselect one particular breakfast. The pop down feature also allows you to select different meals, should the standard menu item not be to your taste or requirement. Please note that alternatives are not necessarily the same price as the generic menu item. This will allow you to build a plan around your budget.<br />Why can I only access the menu from a certain dateThis is because orders for earlier dates have been closed.<br />Order deadlinesPlease note that orders for the following Monday close by 3pm on Thursdays.<br />You can also place an order several weeks in advance.<br />New clients will only have access to the current month&#8217;s menu and will be charged accordingly, meaning that if your plan starts on the 6th day of a 20 day (working days) month, your order will be for a 15 day plan. Existing clients will have access to the following month&#8217;s menu by the 20th of the month. All clients will receive an email reminder on the 20th of each month to log on and make your selection for the following month. Should we not have your information by the 24th of the month you will be contacted by telephone. Orders cannot be given over the telephone.<br />Group ordersDiscounted rates apply to groups that have the same delivery address, or where the order is for 2 or more people. A percentage discount will be authorized by the administrator.<br />Who qualifies for group rates?<br />-Families-Staff within companies where the order is for 2 or more Creating a group or adding yourself to an existing group Select group orders on the registration form if you would like to create a group. Once you have completed the personal details form a table will appear illustrating existing groups. You can either choose to belong to an existing group or to create a group of your own. Existing groups have certain requirements which will be listed on the group order page. If you would like to create your own group access the link on the group orders page, which will send a message to the administrator. You will receive a response within 24 hours notifying you whether the group has been authorized and at what rate of discount.<br />Creating your menu templatesFor clients logging on for the first time there is a relatively large amount of information that will need to be captured. Please note that this information will make it much easier when ordering in the future.<br />Should you opt for the one month eating plan, you will be required to create a standard menu template and then out make your selections specific for the month.<br />By creating the standard menu selection you can place a standard order every month without having to edit the entire menu from scratch, and then simply deselect a specific meal that you do not require within that month.<br />This is best illustrated in an example:<br />Creating a standard template for a client that requires Lunch, Afternoon Snack, Afternoon Drink and Dinner from Monday to Friday<br />Deselect all breakfasts in the breakfast tab, using the tick box.<br />Do the same in the morning snack tab.<br />Access the lunch tab and select all lunches (because you want lunch from Monday to Friday for the entire month).<br />Edit the lunch menu, by using the pop down on each day, should you wish to choose another menu item other than the standard menu item, or leave the lunch menu as is if you are happy with the standard selection.<br />Repeat this process in the afternoon snack, and dinner tabs.<br />The above process is once off and would only require editing if you wish to change your standard requirement (perhaps you decide in a few months that you would prefer to include breakfasts in your order).<br />Once this process is complete you can access the monthly menu by going to the place your next order button on the main menu screen<br />You can now deselect a specific meal or meals on a specific day (Perhaps you have a schedule conflict next Wednesday and do not require lunch).<br />You are now ready to place your order<br />Processing the orderOnce you have completed your selection you will be able to view your pro-forma invoice. The pro-forma will illustrate a breakdown of your order including totals for breakfast, morning snack lunch, afternoon snack, dinner and delivery. This screen is followed by the online payment screen. Please note that payment is required in advance and no order will be considered processed until payment has been made.<br />Once payment has been processed you will receive an invoice via email. You will also be contacted by telephone to confirm the order (within 24 hours).</p>

<p>If you read the article &#8220;How To Gain More Energy By Eating Less Food &#8211; The Power of A 6 Day Vegetarian Fast&#8221; or you are the end of another fasting regime, then you are probably itching to start adding foods back in to your diet.</p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p>You don&#8217;t want to shock your body by eating the wrong foods or heavy foods too soon, so just as gradually as you started your fast; you will gradually add certain foods (not all – we will omit the bad ones, especially meat) back in to your diet. So to start re-introducing food into your diet you should add them in one day at a time:</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Day One After the Fast – continue drinking a lot of water, fresh fruit and vegetables juices, soup (mostly pureed vegetables, nothing with noodles), and vegetable broth (no animal broth)</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Day Two and Three After Fast – On this day you can start to sink your teeth into fresh fruits and vegetables and other produce. No canned or frozen vegetables. Only eat fresh raw vegetables or steamed veggies. Also stay away from &#8220;fruit cups&#8221; or frozen fruit. These tend to be loaded with extra sugar.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Day Four After Fast – You can start to eat legumes and grains (see I told you that you could enjoy these foods again).</p>
<p> </p>
<p>Day Five After Fast – You can start to enjoy all of your soy products such as soy milk and soy yogurt, and plant based, animal-free proteins such as tofu, tempeh, and seitan.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>If you notice, we do not have a day six after the fast to add back meat and junk food. Now that you have eliminated meat, processed foods and junk, why fill your body up with the foods and waste that you wanted to remove by completing a fast in the first place? It will defeat the purpose to cycle through a fast and go right back to your old unhealthy eating habits. Removing the harmful toxins and waste from your body will be only half the battle. Now that you have put your body through a rigorous and healthy fast, you want to make sure your body continues to reap the benefits of having eliminated toxins from your body by maintaining your fast by following it with a nutritional vegetarian meal plan that will continue to support your body&#8217;s needs and lifestyle.</p>
