Using Hypnosis for Weight Loss
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010Copyright (c) 2008 Mark Albertson The escalation of obesity in this country, has triggered a flurry of activity among serious researchers and charlatans to discover the perfect method of weight loss. A recent study has revealed four food that is not the key weight loss diet success, but how do you follow. Researchers from Tufts-New England Medical Center (Journal of the American Medical Association, January 2005) noted in a study of four popular diets, the key is not successful diet itself, but in fact, after the feed. In this one year study in 160 obese adults, researchers divided people into four diet groups: · Weight Watchers (low calorie) • The Zone Diet (low glycemic index) • The Ornish diet (low fat) • The Atkins diet (low carb) The conclusion of the investigation was that all work on this system for study participants who followed. The problem is that less than one quarter were in a position given the regime a little one-year stay. It should be noted that the hardest to follow the diet, the Ornish diet was followed by Atkins, but the authors of the study, “no single system produces satisfactory compliance rate.” Hypnosis as a method to help people meet has been recognized for their food, and think for re-training of the mind “like a thin person, for the opportunity to complete a diet and a healthy diet, which is parallel to develop eating habits of lean people. That said, rich and wildly exaggerated claims about hypnosis as one of the most attractive lure the eyes of those who are hungry for a seemingly simple solution to a complex problem. A careful review of the literature uses the most claims about weight loss through hypnosis on the internet as overly optimistic at best and openly fraudulent at worst. Controversy about the mechanisms of vortex by hypnosis actually contributes to weight loss. Leon (proposed 1976), that hypnosis can obese people team new healthier eating habits and keep helping. One author noted that the increased concentration of hypnosis, suggestibility is characterized, and relaxation (Mott, 1982). Some individuals are supposed to be able to achieve this state are easier than others. A so-called hypnotic “induction” whereby a hypnotist to certain procedures, which will bring the person in the hypnotic state, not a prerequisite for the realization of the state (Mott, 1982). Hypnosis, contrary to what some intemet advertisers can not magically reprogram people’s minds. In short, the methods of hypnosis are the most simple relaxation techniques, formal induction administered by hypnotists, but should not as supernatural in its effects. Studies show weight loss as a result of hypnosis alone are few and suffer from methodological problems. Andersen (reported 1985), may be lost after 8 treatments per week and 12 weeks subjects practicing self-hypnosis, an average of 20. 2 lbs. Cochrane and Friesen identified (1986), that moderate weight loss of subjects using hypnosis preserved. The experimental group lost more weight than controls and maintained the weight loss after a six month follow up. Said Mott (1982), that “even if sometimes hypnosis as a method referred for treatment, it is precisely hypnosis as a facilitator of a number of different treatment options to consider.” The study concludes that the use of hypnosis for a moderate weight loss hypnotherapy. Hypnosis Plus Behavioral Weight Management A number of studies indicate that hypnosis combined with the program of weight management behavior contributes significant weight loss. Bolocofsky, Spinler, and Coulthard-Morris (1985) showed that adding hypnosis has developed a program for behavior change in eating habits, increases the amount of weight loss 8 months and 2 years of follow-up. Both programs of hypnosis in behavior and are provided for different subjects in the study are individually tailored. Bolocofsky et al. (1984) recognized that “a person who weighed less at the beginning program has had more chances of losing weight and reducing the rest. hypnosis combined with weight management behavior appears to be more effective for small amounts of weight loss. Another study showed that 45 women completing a basic program management with self-hypnosis at a somewhat higher amount of weight loss for a 3-month follow-up run (Barabasz and Spiegel, 1989). The group, individual, to the hypnotic suggestions have been developed lost more weight than a group exposed to procedures. Kirsch (1996) presented a weight loss of 6 £ 00 and 11 without hypnosis. 83 pounds with hypnosis is based on a meta-analysis of six studies. Allison and Faith (1996), however, disagreed and maintained that hypnosis only slightly improved the cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy, if at all. In the long term individual hypnosis combined with behavioral weight management program seem to contribute to modest weight loss and helps maintain. Hypnosis is primarily as an opportunity to the attention of the participants regarding the suggestions of behavioral programs to increase and improve weight loss. Studies using behavioral treatments successfully “typically have developed incentive systems to bridge the gap between the current amplifier provided during treatment and the long-term bridge to lose weight” (Bolocofsky et al. , 1985). Hypnosis can fulfill this role as enhancing psychological amplifier. Hypnosis may help subjects in learning positive eating behaviors and healthy habits long-term food intake. Subjects are then more likely that the rules of a particular program into their behavioral regimes (Bolocofsky assume 1985). Kroger (1970) emphasizes the similarities between hypnosis and behavioral treatments that focus action on visualization and imagination. Literature shows that hypnosis is an ideal complement to the programs of behavior management of weight, which tend to generate results with additional long-term. The patchwork problem in studies of weight loss of the use of volunteers ages and backgrounds is a challenge that plagues studies of hypnosis as a useful treatment for weight loss. Andersen (1985) used subjects aged 21-56 years, a wide distribution. Search in another study were aged 17 to 67, which leads to considerable differences in potential between the control group and group hypnosis (Bolocofsky et al., 1985). The fact that the subjects were similar in terms of age, to exaggerate results of weight loss due to hypnosis that are specifically attributable to the age difference. McCabe, Jupp, and Collins (I985) suggests a trend towards young women leave the programs of weight loss compared with older women, leading to a possible masking of potential effects of age. Bolocofsky et al. (1984) noted that successful hypnotic weight loss participants were in self-control, less weighed at the beginning of the study, married, and expressive. A variety of factors determine whether a particular topic of losing weight through a program of hypnosis weight loss. Anderson (1985) mentions the absence of matched subjects as a weakness in his experience. Other studies on topics closely aligned with the different characteristics should be conducted to statements about the effectiveness of hypnosis to lose weight if they support combined with a behavioral program. Most studies require weekly consultation with a hypnotist for 8 weeks or more of self-hypnosis (Bolocofsky et al. 1984; Bolocofsky et al., 1985, Andersen 1985, Cochrane & Friesen, 1986, McCabe et al. 1985). Advertise on the Internet, the emergence of the claim for loss of weight after a single session of hypnosis, especially a group hypnotic session, are frauds selling dreams to desperate customers. Allison and Faith (underscore 1996) that “there is currently no panacea for the treatment of obesity and hypnosis is no exception.” Treatment with hypnosis is not a Quick and easy solution to weight problems. In order to achieve any benefit from its use, hypnosis must be practiced on a regular basis for a longer period. Conclusions and limitations Hypnosis has been shown that effective treatment for mild to moderate amounts of weight loss. A qualification of this statement is that the hypnosis program for each individual should be adapted. Hypnosis is a process in which a person in a state of relaxation and suggestibility increased processing of the brain by a mysterious process defines only the hypnosis of the pseudo-scientific. Quick Fix-hypnosis is probably much less effective than a program for 8 weeks with both the hypnosis, self-hypnosis at home, behavior and weight management. The only people who claim that hypnosis is easy, quick and easy trying to sell people on his program. The biggest obstacle to weight loss is a long-term, but monitoring of hypnosis as a treatment for weight loss has been conducted for more time after two years. Are weight loss tapes lack scientific evidence to support their success and must be purchased with this knowledge in mind. Weight loss through hypnosis has been largely scientific and other studies with control groups and large subject pools are to be ignored in understanding the impact and import.
